Wings rehearsed in Nashville, Tennessee, on 25 June 1974.
The rehearsals took place at the farm owned by songwriter Claude ‘Curly’ Putman Jr. Wings stayed at the farm, which they rented for $2,000 a week, and rehearsed in the garage.
On this day they learnt ‘Medicine Jar’, which had been written by drummer Colin Allen and Wings guitarist Jimmy McCulloch during their time in Scottish rock band Stone The Crows. Originally titled ‘Itchy Fingers’, their band first recorded the song in 1973 at a London community centre. It was later recorded by Wings for Venus And Mars.
In the evening the band went out in Printer’s Alley, Nashville’s former newspaper district. In the small hours of the following morning, on their way back to the Putman farm, Paul McCartney wrote the song ‘Sally G’.
