John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s brief trip to Liverpool ended on 25 June 1969, and they drove up to Edinburgh in Scotland.
Before leaving Liverpool they paid a morning visit to Holmrook Special School, where 73 children with sight impairments were taught. Following the visit the Lennons, who were accompanied by Lennon’s six-year-old son Julian and Ono’s five-year-old daughter Kyoko, left Liverpool for Scotland.
They stopped for lunch at the Waterhead Hotel on Lake Windermere in Cumbria, where Lennon signed autographs for the surprised hotel patrons.
That evening they stayed at John’s aunt Elizabeth’s house at 15 Ormidale Terrace in Haymarket, Edinburgh, where she lived with her second husband Bert. The following day they bought tartan clothes for Julian and Kyoko at the Scotch House on Princes Street.
Lennon, Ono and the children remained in Edinburgh until 30 June.
