Wings continued recording ‘Hi, Hi, Hi’ on 13 September 1972.
They had previously considered releasing a live recording of the song as a single, and had chosen a version from Groningen during the Wings Over Europe Tour in August, before starting work on a studio version on 3 September.
Wings remained unhappy with the results, and the Groningen recording was revived on this day at an Abbey Road session.
Denny Laine and Henry McCullough re-recorded their guitar parts, and Paul McCartney replaced his bass guitar part. The session ran from 2pm until 1.30am the following morning.
