John Lennon and Yoko Ono flew from New York City to Houston, Texas, on 18 December 1971.
The day before, Judge Peter S Solito had granted Ono visitation rights to see her eight-year-old daughter Kyoko, who was living in Texas. A stipulation of the rights were that Ono and Lennon needed to post a bond of $20,000, and that Ono needed to spend an initial weekend with Kyoko. After those requirements were met, she could have custody of Kyoko on alternate weekends.
However, Ono and Lennon were blocked from seeing Kyoko by her father Tony Cox. Unable to agree on terms, Ono and Lennon flew back to New York the next day.
