John Lennon and Yoko Ono flew from Antigua to St Thomas in the US Virgin Islands on 26 July 1971.
Two days before, lawyers acting on behalf of Ono’s former husband Tony Cox had filed a motion in the Virgin Islands seeking to dismiss her motion of custody of their seven-year-old daughter Kyoko. Lennon and Ono flew from Antigua to St Thomas to begin the fight against the motion.
They arrived at Harry S Truman Airport on St Thomas at 5.35pm, having departed from Antigua at 3.30pm. Lennon informed immigration officers of his plans to remain in the Virgin Islands for around three days, before returning to England via Antigua. He was admitted to the US for four weeks.
