John Lennon and Yoko Ono were photographed at their Tittenhurst Park home on 5 November 1969.
Lennon had shaved off the beard he had sported since the start of the year. “I must admit I was getting a bit fed up with it,” he told reporters. “It feels good to see my chin again and get some fresh air on my face.”
One of the shots was of Lennon and Ono in front of the Austin Maxi car that had been involved in a car accident that saw them hospitalised in Scotland on 1 July 1969. Lennon requested the car be brought back to Ascot, and instructed his chauffeur Les Anthony to retrieve it from Scotland. Upon its arrival he ordered it to be crushed, then Ono decided to make an art piece out of the wreckage on the lawn in front of the house.
Neil Aspinall also filmed Lennon and Ono on this day for the promotional clip for The Beatles’ ‘Something’.
