Travel: John Lennon – London to Swansea

John Lennon and Yoko Ono travelled from London to Swansea, Wales, on 21 June 1969.

This was the first leg of a holiday that took them around Wales, on to Liverpool, then to the Scottish Highlands. With them was Lennon’s six-year-old son Julian and Ono’s five-year-old daughter Kyoko.

The couple left their white Rolls-Royce at home, and instead took a Mini Cooper. Lennon drove them to south Wales, but became lost in Gower. At around 10pm he asked two men for directions to Port Eynon in Swansea, telling them he was looking for a petrol station and accommodation for the night.
