11th October 1963, I was there! Great occasion but they were only on stage for about 20 minutes which was disappointing and a bit of a ripoff! Still two days later Beatlemania began at the Palladium!

There wasn’t a supporting group – only the dance orchestra for the ballroom! There was chaos when they came back on because everyone had hoped for more of the Beatles. Do you remember the treated tables collapsing with the weight of people standing on them?

I was there, you could see them but not hear them for the screaming, girls who had fainted were being passed to the back of the crush over the heads of the crowd and treated by the St John ambulance people.
