The dates are wrong they played Majestic in February 1963 I remember it well, it was a great night and it was possible to get very close to the stage as this was quite open then.
I was there . They had mucky old leather jackets and were not very good. Looked tired out and came at about 1.30a.m if I remember properly. I was 20.All the girls danced round their bags.
I played for Eden Kane. We were setting up on Sunday, January 27th when Jon and Paul came up and asked me: “Are you playing here tonight?’
John recognized us, saying: “You’re the guys withy the f*****g great guitars!!” (We had Gibson archtops.)
Paul said to John (who was a bit ticked off that they’d traveled to Hull in error): “Remember, John: we’ll get paid now, anyway.”
They actually did return to Hull two weeks later (Feb 13th) and fulfill the engagement.
I remember it well because it was my first time meeting them and, on the very day, ‘Please Please Me’ had entered the charts! We, of course, congratulated them both. I also recall their long leather coats.
