The Beatles compilation album Reel Music was released in the USA on 22 March 1982.
The 14-song double album brought together songs from the band’s five films: A Hard Day’s Night (1964), Help! (1965), Magical Mystery Tour (1967), Yellow Submarine (1968), and Let It Be (1970).
Released to coincide with a theatrical re-release of A Hard Day’s Night, Reel Music contained several rare mixes. It was the first time the UK stereo mixes of ‘A Hard Day’s Night’, ‘Ticket To Ride’, and ‘I Am The Walrus’ had been released in America. The Capitol Records release also contained a unique edit of ‘I Should Have Known Better’ which fixed the harmonica drop-out during the introduction, which was unique to that pressing.
Reel Music was released in the United Kingdom the following day.
