Recording: My Carnival by Wings

Sea-Saint Recording Studio, New Orleans
Producer: Paul McCartney
Engineers: Alan O’Duffy, Ken Laxton, Roberta Grace

Wings worked on the track ‘My Carnival’ on 12 February 1975.

The track had first been recorded on 31 January under the working title ‘Goin’ To New Orleans. The song remained unreleased until 1985, when McCartney issued it as the b-side of the ‘Spies Like Us’ single.

The song was reworked on this day, with a number of guest musicians. Wings were joined by Tony Dorsey on trombone, studio engineer Ken Laxton on trumpet, and George Porter Jr on percussion. Vocals were by Benny Spellman, Earl King, Leo Nocentelli, Ziggy Modeliste, Art Neville, and Cyril Neville.

Also present for part of the session was a team from the radio station WWOZ, who interviewed Paul McCartney and recorded the work in progress.
