Filming, recording: One Hand Clapping by Wings

Studio Two, EMI Studios, London
Producer: Paul McCartney
Engineer: Geoff Emerick

The first official day of filming for Wings’ One Hand Clapping project took place on 27 August 1974.

Prior to this day they had taken part in two days of camera tests and filmed rehearsals, but this was the first day in which the focus was on filming the band recording and performing. The director was David Litchfield.

They worked on the songs ‘Jet’, ‘Let Me Roll It’, ‘Junior’s Farm’, ‘My Love’, ‘Maybe I’m Amazed’, and a medley of ‘Little Woman Love’ and ‘C Moon’.

Overdubs and discussions in between takes were also filmed, and Paul McCartney decided to turn the results into a documentary.

Wings then performed ‘Band On The Run’, ‘Live And Let Die’, and ‘Soily’, followed by a jam with the working title ‘Claps & Jam’, which was later renamed ‘One Hand Clapping’.

The final songs performed on this day were ‘Go Now’, ‘Bluebird’, ‘Blue Moon Of Kentucky’, and ‘Wild Life’.
