John Lennon and Yoko Ono began recording the Some Time In New York City song ‘Woman Is The N****r Of The World’ on 16 February 1972.
The session began with Elephant’s Memory recording ‘Yoko Birthday Song’, a tribute for Ono, whose 39th birthday it would be at the end of the week.
They then recorded ‘Woman Is The N****r Of The World’, which became the lead single from the album. More overdubs, including Lennon’s lead vocals, were added on 22 February, and the strings were recorded on 18 March.
