John Lennon’s Bag One exhibitions open in Amsterdam

Bag One, John Lennon’s exhibition of erotic lithographs, opened on 7 February 1970 at two art galleries in Amsterdam.

The lithographs, known collectively as Bag One, had been drawn by Lennon in 1969, and chronicled his wedding ceremony and honeymoon with Yoko Ono, and one of their bed-ins for world peace.

The Bag One Portfolio was published as a limited edition of 300, and contained 14 artworks. Similar exhibitions had opened in London (15 January), Detroit (21 January), Long Beach (28 January), and New York City (7 February).

The Amsterdam exhibitions were held at Galerie Taveerne P96 and Galerie Podulke from 7 February to 7 March 1970.
