Recording: Love Is A Many Splendoured Thing by Ringo Starr

A&M Studios, Los Angeles, USA
Producer: Quincy Jones

Sentimental Journey, Ringo Starr’s debut solo album, featured 12 pre-rock ‘n’ roll standards, each arranged by a different musician.

‘Love Is A Many Splendoured Thing’ was arranged by Quincy Jones, who conducted a 27-piece orchestra at A&M Studios in Los Angeles on 26 December 1969.

Starr was not present for the session, and although he overdubbed vocals in London on 14 January 1970, the recording was scrapped and the backing track was re-recorded at EMI Studios on 3 February, again with Jones conducting.
