Television: Summer Spin

The Beatles headlined a special edition of Summer Spin – the summer title of Thank Your Lucky Stars – dedicated to Mersey Beat groups. It was recorded at Alpha TV Studios in Birmingham.

The show was presented by Pete Murray, and The Beatles mimed to two songs at the show’s close: ‘From Me To You’ and ‘I Saw Her Standing There’.

It was broadcast the following Saturday, 29 June 1963, from 6.05-6.45pm, across most of the UK’s ITV network. However, the final 10 minutes of the show clashed with John Lennon’s appearance on the BBC’s Juke Box Jury.
