Thank you for the information I just wasn’t so sure about it. Because I didn’t want to start listening to something that wasn’t real.

Never come across this until about 10 minutes ago. Didn’t know what else to do with it though I could just get people turning ’round and grinning, “You didn’t know!” If fake, remarkable. If real, which I think, even more remarkable.

Definitely sounds real to me. Nice find!

Very interesting. We all knew it was originally meant to have a slow tempo, but did anybody know it was written on piano?? Which John still sounded pretty shaky on?

Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

It is John but not a 1965 demo. John Robertson in ‘The Art and Music of John Lennon ‘ has a Help ! run-thru demo listed as being recorded by John in December 1970 along with ‘I’m The Greatest’, ‘Make Love Not War’, ‘How’, ‘Oh Yoko’ and ‘Sally and Billy’ and writes

“During his interview with Jann Wenner for Rolling Stone, Lennon expressed the desire to re-record Help ! at the slower tempo in which he’d originally written the song, rather than the hurried take preferred as The Beatles single release. He devoted a minute or so during this composing tape to try and perfect a new arrangement, but succeeded only in dragging the first verse through an agonisingly slow haul, and then giving up in disgust when he couldnt work out the piano chords for the chorus.”

^ Pretty much says it all.

This was supposed to be the original tempo until they decided that they wanted it to be a more “poppy” song.

Does anyone have any idea if this is real or not? Its Stu singing Love Me Tender and I’d like to think that its really him, but you never can really know with stuff you find on Youtube. I don’t know enough about recording and sound in them days to be able to tell if its real or fake.

Gosh though, looking at the pictures of Stu and Astrid…they were so beautiful stuart-sutcliffe

I have seen a couple of these threads pop up around some points so I thought why not put it all together as one. So basically, if you have demos or bootlegs you have/heard of the Beatles and you’re unsure if its real, this is the place to post it.

While I know this demo is real,

I’m still not sure about this one

No idea what happened inthe full Bad to Me as i skipped thru it to the end but its a fakeroonie. Some lovely person has decided to ruin a good song and demo and post it on youtube.

If we have this thread is it possible someone can merge it to the one that has the Help ! Lennon 1970 demo and the supposed Sutcliffe recording so they are all together, would save having seperate threads covering the same theme.

It’s the Lennon demo vocal stuck on top of the Dakotas backing track.

I agree there should only be one thread for this type of thing. However I thought I’d done that with my thread. The person who asked the question about the “Sutcliffe” Love Me Tender saw it as the place for that type of question. I would suggest this is added to my “Is this real?” thread, rather than keep having people create new threads and suggesting their thread should be the thread.

I’m not certain of this, but threads seem to be in date order with posts, and so if “Is this real?” was moved here, they would still be the first posts, the only thing that would have changed would be a slightly different thread name.

Maybe what we need to do, in somewhere like All Together Now or Getting Better , is come up with a list of topics, and existing threads that address them. So, using this example, in the list, you could have, “Questions about whether a recording is what it claims to be – See “Is it real?” in Yesterday … and Today.”

So, we all know the search features have limitations, why not create an index of questions and point to threads that address them?

Just an idea.

I think the main problem would be that there would be too many questions. I’d love to have a solution for all the double threads, but I don’t know what could be it.

I welcome your thoughts about this little snippet. Is it The Beatles or not?

Note by Ahhh Girl 29 July 2014: I combined 4 threads that all had “Is this real” as the title. Thread 1 consisted of posts 1-17. Thread 2 consisted of posts 18-21. Thread 3 consisted of posts 22-27. Thread 4 consisted of posts 28-31.

@Linde, we are trying to find that solution you wished for many moons ago a-hard-days-night-george-9. It just takes folks “watching the store” a-hard-days-night-john-3 to help the mods catch new posts that really belong elsewhere quickly before it is too late to do merges.

Peace of Mind/The Candle Burns is mentioned in this thread. If anyone wants to discuss it further, there is a thread devoted just to it.

https://www.beatlesbible.com/f…..dle-burns/

Because of the time/date stamp, I really can’t merge that thread into this one. If I were to merge that thread into this one, Billy Rhythm’s first forum post would end up not making a lick of sense. Besides, it seem to be able to stand on its own as a topic.

@Joe would be able to address this better. but it costs to develop a robust set of questions, and there’s always the risk that it will be like microsoft help (helpless).

Another thread I have replied to, but have absolutely no recollection of.

I still think the question thing will be useless, like I said before, and like Matt Busby says. Too much questions, you’d always lose something.

In my opinion its far easier and less work to move a few threads every Now And Then than set about creating a load of questions that might not even be referred to if it existed. I can’t see many people going to seach for and then read thru a long list of where to post before actually posting.

I agree with MMM. If we set up a load of rules for newcomers we risk putting them off before they’ve even got started. It’s a tricky balance but we’re doing our best.

I guess this thread isn’t the place for that discussion. It’s something we’re working on though.
