As part of the BB 2014 clean-up we’ve come across a couple of Ringo interview threads that would go together well so ive merged them to create this. Already there is one for Paul and hopefully in the near future we will have similar threads for John and George.

I heard it on Iain’s show; I’m a massive fan of Iain Lee, two years of listening and never missed a show. I would totally recommend downloading the podcast on iTunes, Iain’s such a breath of fresh air compared to other guff on Absolute.

And the interview: he’s totally right about those drum fills in She Said She Said .

You all will have read that Dave Dee is no longer with us. But Mickey and Titch and I would like to carry on the good work that's always gone down in number two.

A new interview with Ringo is available to listen to on the bbc iplayer.

The synopsis reads:

The greatest and most successful band of all time, a British band who next year will celebrate a landmark 50 years since the release of their debut single Love Me Do . From the moment they sang those three words ‘Yeah Yeah Yeah’, to blowing up the boundaries of what a collection of songs could be with their 1967 opus album Sgt Pepper ‘s Lonely Hearts Club Band to being the voices & faces of the counter culture, The Beatles undeniable re-shaped pop culture and forever changed the musical landscape.

It’s hard to imagine a World with no Beatles in it and to make sure The First Time with…. returns for another season with an almighty bang, the first episode opens with one quarter of the Fab Four, the one, the only… Ringo Starr .

Ringo talks Matt Everitt through the history of his illustrious career. Starting with how his family inspired him to pick up the drumsticks, how Radio Luxembourg changed his life, what he remembers from his very first performance with The Beatles, to taking on the World & winning, what it was like to be on the inside of the infamous Beatles split, to his solo career with the multi-membered Ringo Starr And his all-Starr Band.

Supposedly the interview will be available until 12:00AM Thursday 1 January 2099!! That may change.

edit:  As of the 19th September 2014 you can download the interview here.

There’s a great interview with George and Ringo on ‘Aspel and Company’ on ITV in 1988 here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?…..fpwRCZl3nY

George was publicising his ‘Cloud Nine ‘ album and “being back in the charts refers to ‘Got My Mind Set On You’.  I became a George fan around this time having bought the single and then the album as well as ‘WWWF’ and TIL” when they were released as single.  I subsequently became a Ringo fan too after watching this interview.

I didn’t realise till many years later that Ringo may have been a bit tipsy, but I though he was just a really funny guy.

"Never guess. Unless you have to. There's enough uncertainty in the universe as it is."

From Philadelphia Classic Rock station WMGK – host Andre Gardner had Ringo on his show recently.

To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.
