Former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr has asked fans to stop sending him letters requesting autographs.
In a video message posted on his website, Starr says he has “too much to do” and says he’ll throw any fan mail away after 20 October.
This is a serious message to everybody watching my update. Peace and love. Peace and love.I want to tell you after the 20th of October please do not send fan mail to any address you have. Nothing will be signed after the 20th of October. If that is the date on the envelope, it’s gonna be tossed.
I’m warning you with peace and love I have too much to do. So no more fan mail. Thank you, thank you. And no objects to be signed. Nothing.
Anyway, peace and love, peace and love.
In a 1991 episode of The Simpsons titled Brush With Greatness, Starr vowed to answer every letter he received from fans. Marge Simpson’s question was answered decades after she sent it with the words: “Yes, in England we do have French Fries, but we call them chips.”
