Mixing, editing: Zoo Gang by Wings

AIR Studios, London
Producer: Paul McCartney

A mixing session for ‘Zoo Gang’, the b-side of Wings’ 1974 single ‘Band On The Run’ in the United Kingdom, took place on 14 May 1973.

The backing track had been taped on 25 April, and the track was completed on 7 May with an accordion overdub.

‘Zoo Gang’ was first used as the theme tune of a UK TV drama series, The Zoo Gang, which ran for six episodes in 1974. It was made by Sir Lew Grade’s ATV, who asked Paul McCartney to write the theme.

The track was mixed in mono and stereo on this day at AIR Studios in London. The mono mix was then edited for use in the TV show, with a 30-second version for the end of the show, and a longer edit for the title credits.
