Recording: Mama’s Little Girl by Wings

Studio One, Olympic Studios, London
Producer: Glyn Johns
Engineer: Phil Chapman

Wings recorded ‘Mama’s Little Girl’ on 14 March 1972.

Although recorded during the Red Rose Speedway sessions, it was released in 1990 as a b-side of Paul McCartney’s ‘Put It There’ single.

The backing track had McCartney on acoustic guitar, Denny Laine on bass guitar, and Denny Seiwell on percussion. Henry McCullough played a subtle electric guitar part, and Linda McCartney played a snare drum.

I remember we brought a whole bunch of African drums in for that and I was clicking sticks on the side, and using the drum skin heads.

All five band members contributed backing vocals, along with the young Heather McCartney.

I do a nice little vocal on it. Back by me kid. Anyone who’s got a daughter will love that.
