OfflineSo,I've just bought I me mine and I can't wait to read it despite the fact that many people say that he doesn't talk about The Beatles much and in particular, about John's influence on his life.
But,what do all you beatlepeople think?

OfflineIs it a paperback? I'm fortunate to have a first edition hardcover copy of the book, and of course I treasure it.
But it's not much of a book.
At the start of the book, there are some good anecdotes about their tour in Australia (which I used in Into the Sky), but the book consists mostly of little comments about various songs, many of which are from the post Beatle, post All Things Must Pass era.
(It does have cool drawings/engravings.)
Anyone feel differently?

George said in an interview once when asked about him not mentioning John more in his book. He said that John was upset because he didn't mention that he helped him with a couple of lines in 'Taxman'. George said what about the two lines he helped with 'Come Together' or the three lines he helped with in 'Eleanor Rigby' George said that he would have more reason to being upset than John. He said that John and Paul were so busy being 'John and Paul' that they didn't see past that.

OfflineI have finally gotten 'round to reading it now, one month after I was going to! It´s true what some of you have been saying, it´s a short book and it took me all of 3 hours to read it. He doesn´t speak much about his time with The Beatles, focusing instead on his other hobbies/interests like gardening. Because he doesn´t speak much about them, I don´t think that John had reason to be upset by the book beacuse he doesn´t really talk about Paul or Ringo either. It´s not like he was all praise for Paul and he just mentioned John in passing, he hardly talked about any of them or the 60´s in general.
Good book though and I´m glad I read it because now I can make my judgement on whether John should´ve been hurt by it.
Do you think he was right to be upset?

OfflineHonestly (and I never read the book, I'm gonna put that out there), it seemed to me that John felt that for someone who became famous as a Beatle, and was aided significantly by being around and yes, even working with, John and Paul, John felt he was slighted. He never mentioned being slighted in comparison to Paul – just being slighted. Paul and Ringo must not have cared, I guess.

I think that George should have written about the other beatles and how they helped him, or whatever – anything, and he didn't but it's not like he spoke much abouth them at all. So I don't know whether he should have been hurt, maybe. Although it's important to point out that Ringo and Paul weren't upset so maybe John shouldn't of been either. We all know that George realised how much John meant to him, although some may say a tad too late.
