OfflineI listened to them all but the last one, which is made up of fan questions. Jack Douglas and Klaus Voormann stand out the most. If you listen to any of them, be sure it's these two. It can get repetitive since they ask the same questions over and over again. I know it's needed for the show, but the time you're done with them all you will know:
- John had a general idea of what he wanted when he walked into the studio, but would allow and even welcome "mistakes".
- Yoko is a talented artist in her own right – most are too square to understand.
- NYC offered the Lennons a freedom that they couldn't find any where else.
- Most of the musicians he worked with generally preferred The Rolling Stones, but were in awe to be working with a Beatle.

OfflineI finally found time to watch this, and my first thought? "Crap, now I need to buy all of these albums, don't I." My second, "I think I could listen to him read tax code and be pleased". So if you're looking for an objective review, look elsewhere!
Here are my random thoughts:
- After listening to all those podcasts, it's amazing how much is left out.
- I did appreciate how they handled him. He doesn't deserve more attention.
- Yoko seemed pretty candid to me, but I would have liked to hear her full interview. (On the Blu-Ray perhaps?)
- May Peng too, but she has what, three books? I can read one of them later.
- I'm glad they didn't try to build up John by bashing Paul. I'm getting sick of that kind of thing.
- Those home videos of John and Sean together? Yeah, they're why I don't like Goldman's book. John could be a real ass without making shit up.
I think it was pretty good. I give it

s out of five. Something was missing – I need time to mull it over. You can watch it here. If you're outside the US and need help setting up a proxy, pm me and I'll do my best to help.
I did listen to the last podcast, and they said that they had filmed a propmotional video during the recording of Double Fantasy. John didn't like how it turned out, so he tossed into a bath tub, ruining the film. Does this have any relation to the Jack Douglas story?

OfflineMay Pang hated LENNONYC. I haven't seen it so can't really comment, but I'm doing an interview with May (we have a mutual friend) and hope to get the full details of her objections. I understand she's rewriting her book Loving John to counter a lot of the inaccuracies as she sees them.

OfflineI enjoyed it, but when it comes to watching anything about any of the Beatles I usually have "Beatlemania blinders" on. Take that as you will.
The only thing I could have done without was the incredibly long siren sound effect they used when it came to talking about the shooting. I just kept thinking, "OK – I get it – sirens – you can stop any time now".
Another observation – when they got to the part where he joined Elton John on stage, they flashed a photo showing both men who were about 20 feet apart. Even though it was Elton's show, every single eye in the house was on John. I just thought there was something very cool about that.
As for May Pang not liking it, I'd be curious to find out why. She had positive things to say about Paul and John getting together in LA so if she expands upon that, it would be nice. I'll be looking forward to reading the interview, Joe.
And skye – thanks again so much for bringing this to our attention in the first place. I was looking forward to it.
To the fountain of perpetual mirth, Let it roll for all its worth.

OfflineWhoaa interesting article Joe..
Ok I'm going to say something .. I don't want to jump into Yoko's hate…. I mean I don't hate her at all… but she might be changing the truth in some issues.
For instance, she said once that she gave Julian the same amount of money that Sean was getting because they were brothers and that would have been something terrible to do to them. Hello?? Didn't Julian fight with her to get part of his Dad's state?? And didn't he accept an agreement because the fight was hurting his relationship with Sean??
I don't know. Again, I don't want to jump into Yoko's hate bandwagon.. but I wouldn't believe all what she says it's the truth about John. I'll watch the documentary anyway.

Very True. hindsight can be 20/20, as long as revisions don't blur the truth

Thanks for sharing Joe – looks like a case of "She Said, She Said" (pun absolutely intended).
I got a kick out of this part…
"Lennon’s widow, Yoko Ono, has strongly promoted the documentary; and the film’s director, Michael Epstein, conceded that while she did not technically have “editorial control”, she was “there” while he made the film—which might explain what we’ve heard."
It left me thinking, "hmmmmmmmmmmm, where have I heard that before?"

I watched this after seeing your comment. By the 3rd whooooo I was trying to stifle my giggle, because you're right, it does go on for awhile. It's a pretty uncomfortable part.
But I also noticed that by doing that, they are pretty much taking it as a given that we all know the story and so they don't have to mention the Lord Volde…*that guy* of the music world, as Yoko wishes.
So fricking sad. I sometimes wonder what WOULD have happened had John been deported back to England. It's not Siberia. Could he have moved back here again after Nixon left office? Meh.

Here is my Timeline if John remained in England: 1972-1975
1972: John's Latest Album, a continuation of the sound of Imagine, is released to much critical and commercial success.
Early 1973: Paul, John, George and Ringo reunite on I'm The Greatest off Ringo. This Sparks reunion fever, leading to An Argument between Paul, John and George about whether to reunite fully.
1974: Yoko splits from John, Leading To a Full Blown Reunion of the Beatles, Leading to 5 critically acclaimed and Commercial record setting albums. They Split in 1977
1980: Yoko and John reunite, and John gets shot on Dec. 8, 1980

So basically, you're saying it's inevitable, what happens to John. I like the idea of a parallel world where he is still here, and what havoc he'd be wreaking currently (probably getting into spotlight wars with Bono or something…)
It's just one of those moments, I'm not sure of the book by Ray Bradbury, but he mentions something called the butterfly effect, which I'm sure you know of. Like had he survived even, what would have happened? What could have happened if somehow someone knew he was going to be shot and prevented it? Would something have to be made worse because he ended up living? And then we can get into heavier stuff like was he *meant* to die?
Anyways, too many questions with no satisfying answers. Pooh.

OfflineShe said, she is certainly right!
May does make good point. Listening to all of those podcasts, few of the people interviewed where there in LA, and if they were, they weren't there-there, they were too drunk/high to really notice, or they were there and sober but simply "don't remember" – for good or bad.
mithveaen – did you want to borrow my old signature for a while?
Good job on getting that interview Joe! I can't wait.

Sorry. Just the idea of a teenager giving a grown woman lessons on how to behave was rather shocking.
JOE GETS TO INTERVIEW YOKO?
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
OK, that is the most exciting thing I have heard in a while.
Got a 17! (Does mithveaen know what I mean?)
