I’ve been somewhat addicted to this great song, mostly through the hit single version by Peter & Gordon from 1966, written by Paul but credited to a Mr. Bernard Webb. But I’ve also been listening a lot to this version of the song by Australian tribute band The Beatnix, who recorded it in a more Beatlesque, Rubber Soul -era style:
The original Peter & Gordon version was recorded in December 1965, which dates the song to sometime late in the Rubber Soul sessions. Makes you wonder why the band elected not to record it, if they had it available. It’d fit pretty well on the record with a more stripped-down arrangement, and considering they had to use “Wait “, an outtake from the Help ! sessions to help fill out the album, they could use an additional song. What do you Fab people think of this song? 😀
