My dad won’t allow me to go to Japan because I am not 18 years old. All my years of saving and waiting gone to waste a-hard-days-night-paul-11

I wonder if any Paul fanatics have relived his 1980 Japan visit.

T minus 6 and counting. My hairdresser said today I look like a kid waiting for Christmas, and I’m probably not going to sleep well the night before. She’s probably right. :-P

My wife saw this on Facebook today – from Miller Park in Milwaukee, WI.

I was thinking today, he’s the same age as Mick Jagger, and Mick looks like he’s been dead and reanimated (and I’m a big Stones fan, too, so I don’t say this to be mean). Whatever Paul and Ringo are doing, it’s working, they look fantastic.

As my dad says, Mick and Keith look like they were sucked dry by a giant spider

Funny thing is, Keith has been clean since the early 80s…he’s just aged REALLY badly!

I’ve already run into a former coworker and 3 other people who’ve come here just to see Paul. And my hotel is playing one of Paul’s live albums in the lobby. Can’t believe the night is almost here!

Have a great time tonight! I live in Marin County north of the Golden Gate Bridge but have a gig tonight. Be careful out there. Traffic is going to be a mess what with the concerts, Giants Game, Raider’s Game, Steely Dan and America’s Cup.

Give us a full report after the show. HAVE FUN!!!!

I took copious notes and will work up a longer post maybe tonight. For now, suffice it to say that everything you’ve heard is true – Paul is one of the most amazing performers I’ve ever seen, if not the most. The day was long but the night was over far too quickly. I got up insanely early and it paid off – for my very first, possibly only Paul McCartney concert, I got front row! Off to the extreme side but, still front row!

I was wondering what special treat San Francisco would get, and Paul didn’t disappoint. He performed “Yesterday ” with the Kronos Quartet. I got hear that song with actual strings.

More later. It still feels like a dream. I may have cried at least twice.

Wow, front row! Glad to hear you had a fantastic time! :D

Thanks, Emily! Hope to have a chance to do my write-up tomorrow, as I got called in to work just as I got home.

Just want to post that someone told me that Outside Lands will stream an hour of Paul’s set at 7pm PST tonight.

Oh, and Stevie Wonder was on my flight home. :-D A perfect ending to a perfect weekend.

So parlance, what do you think of that discussion from another topic, about whether Paul’s voice is quite what it used to be?  What was your impression of his singing ability from the concert, and does it compare favorably with his past?

Well, I don’t think it’s fair to compare favorably to the past. He’s older. Voices deteriorate. But as I said over there, he’s still in fine voice, and sounding better than the performances from last year. There were certain notes he hit that I was incredibly impressed by – not only the fact he hit them, but that the tone and quality sounded very much like a younger Paul.
