Record Plant, Los Angeles
Producers: John Lennon, Phil Spector
John Lennon recorded ‘Since My Baby Left Me’ for his Rock ‘N’ Roll album on 14 December 1973.
It was written by Arthur Crudup, who recorded it as ‘My Baby Left Me’ in Chicago on 8 November 1950. In 1956 it was recorded by Elvis Presley, and released as the b-side of his single ‘I Want You, I Need You, I Love You’. Presley’s recording helped popularise the song, and was probably the version that Lennon first heard.
Lennon’s recording was left off the Rock ‘N’ Roll album, and remained unreleased until 1986’s posthumous collection Menlove Ave.
