John Lennon and Yoko Ono were interviewed for Jet magazine on 11 May 1972.
They were visiting the offices of the Johnson Publishing Company at 820 S. Michigan Avenue, Chicago. There they spoke to Chester Higgins, the senior editor of Jet, a magazine aimed at black readers.
The interview was part of a campaign to lay the ground for the release of their forthcoming single, ‘Woman Is The N****r Of The World’. Higgins appeared to accept their rational for using the term, and during the exchange Lennon spoke of his deep love for black music.
