‘Liverpool 8’ is the opening song on Ringo Starr’s 15th solo studio album, 2008’s Liverpool 8.
Lyrically, the song is perhaps Starr’s take on The Beatles’ ‘In My Life’. It looks back to his childhood growing up in Madryn Street and Admiral Grove in Liverpool, playing with Rory Storm and the Hurricanes, performing in Hamburg with the Fab Four, and conquering the world.
The song’s orchestration was arranged by Suzie Katayama and co-producer David A Stewart, and the musicians were conducted by Katayama.
‘Liverpool 8’ was released as the first single from the album, on 7 January 2008, on compact disc and digital download. The b-side was the album track ‘For Love’.
