Hi, I'm new to this site so tell me if I do anything wrong.
This question might seem vague and bland, but has anyone noticed how the verses on "We Can Work It Out " seem very new? What's the chord structure, the guitar, and the amp that was used in this song?
"The best band? The Beatles. The most overrated band? The Beatles."

I understand that, but a good share of the members/experts are on the other side of the globe. In other words, asleep.
In the meantime, have you tried this site? Alan W. Pollack's Notes on ... Series
Ad hoc, ad loc, and quid pro quo! So little time! So much to know!
Yep, as Skye says, some of us humans may not be around 24/7. It's also a public holiday here in the UK so some people might be away from their computers. There's no need to bump a topic if someone doesn't reply within two hours!
The chords you can look up yourself, or work them out (ha!).
McCartney played his Hofner bass, Starr a Ludwig drum kit. Lennon played a Gibson Jumbo (J-160E) acoustic guitar and harmonium (double tracked). Harrison played a tambourine.
No idea about amps, sorry.

The chord structure does have a kind of "new/modern" feel to it - but only because new/modern musicians are copying something old and time-tested, of course. 🙂
The song is in D major, but it makes heavy use of the VIIb chord, which is I think what gives it that "modern" sound. It also adds the 9th degree note to a lot of the chords, which is another trick that gets used in a lot of songs today. Example (I bold/italicized the word where the chord lands, and in the chord diagram I bold/italicized the "out-of-place 9th note"):
Lyric: Do I have to keep on talking till I can't go on
Chord:
EADGBE
----------
x32033
Lyric: We can work it ...
Chord:
EADBGE
----------
320233
Hope that makes some sense of the riddle ...
Not a bit like Cagney.

Has anyone noticed that this song shares a certain similarity with She Said She Said , in that it has a repeated 3/4 time signature section? Not as extended, but it has a similar effect. It's very interesting that it was George's idea to put that in.
I'm like Necko only I'm a bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin and also everyone. Or is everyone me? Now I'm a confused bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin everyone who is definitely not @Joe. This has been true for 2016 & 2017 but I may have to get more specific in the future.
