‘Stop And Take The Time To Smell The Roses’ is the fifth song on Ringo Starr’s eighth solo album, 1981’s Stop And Smell The Roses.

It was co-written by Starr and Harry Nilsson. The pair had collaborated since 1973’s Ringo. Nilsson also wrote ‘Drumming Is My Madness’ for Starr, and co-produced both songs as well as a re-recording of ‘Back Off Boogaloo’.

Stop And Smell The Roses was released on compact disc by US label The Right Stuff on 22 August 1994, along with Old Wave. The former contained six bonus tracks, including ‘Stop And Take The Time To Smell The Roses’ (Original vocal version).
