‘Heart On My Sleeve’ is the fourth song on Ringo Starr’s seventh solo album, 1978’s Ringo The 4th.

Written by Scottish duo Gallagher & Lyle, it was originally released on their fifth studio album, 1976’s Breakaway.

Starr’s version of ‘Heart On My Sleeve’ was released as a single in the US on 6 July 1978, with ‘Who Needs A Heart’ on the b-side.

The only UK single taken from Bad Boy was ‘Tonight’, backed with ‘Heart On My Sleeve’. None of the album’s singles charted.

To promote Bad Boy, Starr took part in a primetime US television special titled Ringo, filmed in Hollywood in February 1978. In the show, which was broadcast on 26 April, he performed ‘Heart On My Sleeve’, ‘Hard Times’, and ‘A Man Like Me’.
