‘Hard Times’ is the sixth song on Ringo Starr’s seventh solo album, 1978’s Ringo The 4th.

Written by English singer-songwriter Peter Skellern, it was the opening song on his 1975 album of the same name. Hard Times also featured George Harrison on the song ‘Make Love Not War’.

To promote Bad Boy, Starr took part in a primetime US television special titled Ringo, filmed in Hollywood in February 1978. In the show, which was broadcast on 26 April, he performed ‘Heart On My Sleeve’, ‘Hard Times’, and ‘A Man Like Me’.
