‘Easy For Me’ is the tenth song on Ringo Starr’s 1974 album Goodnight Vienna.
The sparsest arrangement on the album, it featured a string arrangement by Trevor Lawrence, Vini Poncia. The session musicians were conducted by producer Richard Perry.
‘Easy For Me’ was written by Harry Nilsson, whose own version appeared on his 11th album, 1975’s Duit On Mon Dei. On that album it was retitled ‘Easier For Me’, a typical Nilsson in-joke, although by that point his own singing voice was little better than Starr’s.
Nilsson wrote this next track and it’s the only one on the album with full orchestra. It’s piano, my voice and orchestra. We did the basic track just with piano, and then we overdubbed the orchestra. Trevor Lawrence and Vini Poncia arranged the strings on this one and Richard Perry conducted it. It’s a nice slow ballad, and I thank Harry very much for writing it for me, because it’s so beautiful.
