‘Cryin” is the fourth song on Ringo Starr’s 1976 album Ringo’s Rotogravure.

It was written by Starr and Vini Poncia, who had first collaborated on 1973’s Ringo. The song’s style, however, harks back to the country and western of 1970’s Beaucoups Of Blues. Guesting on the recording was ‘Sneaky’ Pete Kleinow, who had previously performed on John Lennon’s Mind Games.

The release

‘A Dose Of Rock ‘N’ Roll’ was released ahead of Ringo’s Rotogravure as a US single on 20 September 1976, with ‘Cryin” on the b-side. It peaked at number 26 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Starr’s final top 30 hit.

The single was also issued in the UK on 15 October but failed to chart.

‘Cryin” was also the b-side of the single ‘You Don’t Know Me At All’, which was released in Europe on 15 October 1976.

Another single, containing the songs ‘Las Brisas’ and ‘Cryin”, was released in Mexico in 1976.
