‘Attention’ is the fourth song on Ringo Starr’s eighth solo album, 1981’s Stop And Smell The Roses.

It was one of two songs on the album written by Paul McCartney, the other being ‘Private Property’.

McCartney sent Starr a demo of the song featuring piano and vocals, as well as cover versions of Carl Perkins’ ‘Sure To Fall (In Love With You)’, which Starr covered on the album, and Chuck Berry’s ‘Route 66’. The cassette was given to saxophonist Howie Casey to prepare his parts ahead of the recording session. It sold at auction in 2022 for £8,000.

‘Attention’ was recorded in July 1980 at Super Bear Studios in Berre-Les-Alpes, France. The performers included Paul and Linda McCartney, and Wings guitarist Laurence Juber.
