That sure is one weird site, it’s weird how they claim some songs are in 7 keys, like E7 or G7. I thought songs could only be in major and minor keys although I know there are alternate scales such as mixolydian (in C, C D E F G A Bb C) but I didn’t realize that the keys changed in that case. Also, I think the reason it says The Word is in Dm7 with major 3rd is because the chord that George uses during the verses is a D7#9 (x5456x) which is a D7 with both a major and minor 3rd, this chord is also used in Taxman as well as in Michelle and Purple Haze by Jimi Hendrix but in different keys.

If you're reading this, you are looking for something to do.

Yeah, but that’s not the key! Dm7 (M3) isn’t a key, it’s a chord!

Uh-oh, I have contributed to derailing this thread.

Would one of you…someone…create a thread dedicated to Beatles keys?

It’s not about whether or not you derailed a thread, it’s how you fix it.

LIB is in C as well, another Paul piano composition.

Heres a double:

You know you’re a hardcore Beach Boys fan/Beatles fan when you listen to an early outtake of Hello Goodbye , which begins with Paul playing the descending progression at double(possible quadruple) time, and you hear the piano part to Brian Wilson’s Love And Mercy.

YKYAHBFW you can’t listen to musicians practising without eventually thinking: ‘Ah, I know this chord from ‘I’m Only Sleeping ” or ‘that’s exactly the first note the guitar plays on ‘Dear Prudence ” and so on.

Not once does the diversity seem forced -- the genius of the record is how the vaudevillian "When I'm 64" seems like a logical extension of "Within You Without You" and how it provides a gateway to the chiming guitars of "Lovely Rita. - Stephen T. Erlewine on Sgt Pepper's

I swear I heard a song today which was heavily using the opening of ‘Isn’t It A Pity (Version 1′) before a little sample of ‘Imagine ‘ in the intro. No idea what song it was and it was in a cafe so unless I go back and ask weird questions I’ll never know what song it was. My hearing curiosity was piqued as I thought it was ‘Isn’t It A Pity (Version 1)’ for a few moments.

And last week I was in a supermarket when my being started tuning into the music playing overhead which was very faint and overpowered by all the noises of the checkouts and people going by. Had to walk across the store to be able to hear the song and it was ‘In My Life ‘. No idea how my senses picked that up due to how difficult it was to hear it.

I had a similar moment a few weeks ago. At my supermarket, they’d had a George Michael song on the radio, and then my Beatles sense said ‘that’s a Beatles song’, but I couldn’t hear it. A few seconds later, I realised that they were playing the rather unusual choice of You’re Going To Lose That Girl

Well done mmm on honing down your sixth Beatle sense!

You know you’re a hardcore Beatles fan when you feel personally offended by people who put paper bags over the cover of their copy of Two Virgins , and you are also offended by the US versions of the White Album collage that censored Paul’s pubic hair. blue-meanie

When you decide for yourself that after having listened to solely the Beatles for hours on end each day over the last couple of days, you should perhaps take a little break and also listen to some other music but then end up listening to:

All Things Must Pass , Ram , Plastic Ono Band, and then, because a certain line in God has made you a little sad, to Revolver , SFF/PL, and Sgt Pepper ‘s.a-hard-days-night-paul-10paul-mccartney-facepalm_gif

When you can’t watch or read anything about the 1960s without hoping for a mention of the band.

Also, when the fact the Beatles are mentioned in the course makes you choose the modern history A level over medieval history.

YKYAHBFW you can tell whether a song will be a solo John, solo Paul, solo George or solo Ringo song just from the first few seconds of it! I’ve done this several times while listening to Beatles radio which doesn’t have the song title on display.

I can usually tell because I’ve probably heard the song before so I just know. Although having heard the songs beforehand probably also makes me a hardcore fan.

You pay close attention to who played what when listening to Beatles songs.

I’m pretty sure Pepdog is referring to being able to tell if a Beatles solo song is from John’s, Paul’s, George’s, or Ringo’s crareer.
