Ok Sunii…
After thinking that I don't like Yoko's music I thought “Ok Mithveaen can you name a Yoko's song?” and I couldn't. So I went to youtube and I thought “Ok, let's give a try..” and to my dismay I didn't remeber Walking on Thin Ice is hers. I mean, it's ok and in some parts it seems she's throwing up, but it's good to have fun while fooling around dancing and having tequila. After all Dalai Lama said “Embrace everything”.
So I'll have a bash with her music. Can you enlight me a little please??

Bop. Bop, cat bop. Go, Johnny, Go.

You should listen to Kiss Kiss Kiss. The song is on Double Fantasy , I believe. If you hate disco music, don't listen to it.
Oh and I advise you to listen to none of her avante garde rubbish. That is a no-no.

I've just heard the song and it's ok. I can do without the moaning at the end, but which disco song didn't have that kind of moaning in the 70s? And I found some nice remixes. To give her some credit the music was a little ahead of her time. Still I can live without her music.I might get Walking on Thin Ice. Maybe.
Thanks for the info!

I need to get a copy of Yoko Ono/Plastic Ono Band. I've always been interested in hearing it.
I don't know a great deal of her work, but I do know that the stuff I've heard (Two Virgins , Live Peace In Toronto etc) isn't nearly her best. I'd like to hear Fly and Approximately Infinite Universe too. Can anyone recommend anything else?
I listened to Yes, I'm A Witch on Spotify. Some of it was pretty good. They've also got Open Your Box, Blueprint For A Sunrise and Rising/Rising Mixes, none of which I've listened to yet.

an interesting Yoko song is “Don't Be Scared” from Milk And Honey – listen to it a couple of times before you decide.

I can mostly rep for that initial Apple trilogy. POB is pretty bracing stuff, recommended to anyone who thinks the Beatles never did anything better than “Tomorrow Never Knows “, “Revolution “, “Yer Blues ” and “Helter Skelter ” – and that those four tracks would’ve been better without chord changes or conventional lyrics. (“Why” and “Why Not” have no lyrics other than the title!) Lennon/Starr/Voormann make an excellent hard-rocking trio, and Yoko’s lung capacity is remarkable, love it or hate it. FLY has one album of similar guitar-dominated stuff, a bit bluesier and groove-oriented, and one album of more out-there avant-garde stuff that’ll probably really try your patience. By comparison, AIU is two LPs worth of *songs* that aren’t really avant-garde in the least – practically every one of ’em could conceivably have gotten radio airplay with a different singer. And yet Yoko’s singing is a lot more controlled – downright pretty on some of the ballads, even though she’s still fairly shaky in general.
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

Yes, they recorded them back-to-back with the same musicians. The cover artwork was mostly identical – the J+Y pic on the front had the two under the tree, but with Yoko in John's arms; the back cover had a B+W pic of Yoko as a child rather than John.
There's a story I read recently where Ringo described working up an amazing groove with John and Klaus, expecting Yoko to join in. After about 10, 15 minutes of this it drew to a close, upon which Yoko stuck her head around the studio door and said, “are you ready to start recording yet?” I can't remember where I read that though – if anyone else recalls it do let me know.
Yoko's album Fly was also intended as a companion piece to Imagine . I wish they'd kept them separate, rather than sharing albums such as STINYC, Double Fantasy , Milk And Honey .
Thanks Von Bontee. I'll try to download those albums. Any other recommendations/ones to avoid?

I really hate her Stripped Down Songs From Double Fantasy
At least the Original Mix has great instrumental playing behind her voice

I’m listening to Yoko Ono today. Really, most of her albums are good.
Plastic Ono Band, Fly, Approximately Infinite Universe, Take Me to the Land of Hell, Rising, Blueprint for a Sunrise, and Between My Head and the Sky are all great.
Starpeace, Feeling the Space, A Story, Season of Glass, and It’s Alright have some good and bad on them.

Maybe after I catch up with a few of the way too many classical CDs I’ve bought in the last week 😉
