I don’t see a thread about the famous meeting between The Beatles and Elvis.
Reports about it are conflicting because no cameras or recording devices were allowed.
Depending on whose account you read, they either got along well or didn’t. And they either jammed together or didn’t.
I recommend reading Larry Geller’s account in If I Can Dream: Elvis’ Own Story. Larry says he smoked a joint outside with George and discussed Eastern philosophy.
According to most accounts Elvis was watching TV with no sound and playing along to records with his bass guitar. Then everyone else joined in.
I’ve read that John pissed Elvis off with comments about his irrelevance (I doubt this), but I have also read that he impressed Elvis with his Peter Sellers impersonation, that John was his favorite, and that he gave John his private telephone number.

I’ve also read they jammed to Mohair Sam by Charlie Rich, and that The Beatles invited Elvis to party with them next but he didn’t go, he sent some of the Memphis Mafia to party with them instead.
In other news, my wife and I are going to Big E Fest in Georgia, which is a festival of Elvis impersonators founded by the artist, Joni Mabe. We went to her Everything Elvis museum a couple of months ago and met her, and I bought some of her books and got her autograph.

Also, my wife and I drove through the neighborhood where this meeting happened a few years ago, but the address of Elvis’s house is often reported as 525 and 565 Perugia Way, and I don’t know which is correct.

Apparently Mal, who always always always had a guitar pick in his pocket except for that one occasion, had to break the tips off plastic spoons for Elvis to use as a pic.

Oh yeah I was reading about that on this forum actually.
On the same tour they met Elvis Presley, whom Evans had greatly admired for years.
It was a thrill, but it was the biggest disappointment of my life in one way. I really am a big Elvis fan – at six foot three I’m one of the biggest. So I prepare my outfit to go and meet Elvis – send the suit to the cleaners, nice white shirt and tie – really ponce myself up. But when the suit came back from the cleaners, they’d sewn the pockets up. Now, I always carry plectrums – picks, they call them in the States. It’s just a habit. I’m not even working for them [The Beatles] now and I’ve still got a pick in my pocket at the moment.
So when we get there, Elvis asks, ‘Has anybody got a pick?’ and Paul turns round and says, ‘Yeah, Mal’s got a pick. He’s always got a pick. He carries them on holiday with him!’ I went to go in my pocket for one – and there they were, all sewn up.
I ended up in the kitchen breaking plastic spoons, making picks for Elvis!
That was a disappointment. I’d have loved to have given Elvis a pick, have him play it, then got it back and had it framed.
