So, I was wondering what sorts of Beatley things other people when they’re just sitting at home. Idk about any of you, but i’m on summer break and I’m usually sitting at home, doing whatever, watching endless YouTube videos. I want to incorporate more Beatles into my daily life, I feel like I’m slipping away from myself and just need some Ideas on what to do. So, what kinds of Beatley things do you do when you’re sitting at home?

Besides listening to their music and watching videos about them, i also think about the guitars they used and what song used what guitar, it’s a niche topic but i love doing it.

Read books about them.

You could always take up @Starr Shine?’s Lennon-McCartney fanfic challenge.

I’ve been arranging their songs for the piano—time-consuming but I end up with a nice version of the song that I can entertain myself with. Sometimes I want to do something a bit more active than just listening …

Yes, sitting on the curb opposite 57 Wimpole Street and thinking about all the things that happened in there while Paul lived there is an awesome way to spend some time. Especially when you have a walking Beatles encyclopedia (and all around good host) sitting next to you. You all should indulge yourselves with this treat one of these days. Maybe you will find a two pence coin on the ground like I did. I keep the coin in my purse so I see every time I get money out to pay for something.

I wish I had the funds and the vacation time to indulge in that Beatley activity multiple times a year.

That sounds like a great vacation idea, learning about The Beatles and seeing things related to them with a great host.

The only Beatley things I do pretty much daily are: listen to their music, watch videos about them, talk to other people about them (ahem) and play their songs on guitar.

And yes, visit historic Beatle sites when I have the chance. Thankfully I only live about 3 hours away from Liverpool so having a chance to do this isn’t too difficult. I was there a few weeks ago.

Well there’s the obvious things like listening to their music, watching their movies, reading books/magazines about them, drawing pictures of them or making collages if you like art… But then you could also do things they like(d) to do. So smoking dope could be one example, or drinking scotch and coke (sounds gross to me but they liked it), or you could try not eating meat on a Monday for Meat Free Monday, which is something that Paul is passionate about. You could listen to the music that influenced them, or read books that they enjoyed (I know John liked the works of Lewis Carroll and Dylan Thomas).

I see now that I should have responded with an “I statement” instead of giving advice, but these are all things I have done or do with the exception of drinking scotch and coke. Something else I used to do but don’t anymore is I would write out their discography from memory and try to get all the dates and track listings correct. I used to really like making lists. Posting on this website is another kind of obvious thing that I do occasionally.

I like to do all the usual stuff. I also enjoy going to to the record store and looking through the the Beatles section and solo sections. I don’t always buy things in the sections, but I always look. I’ll also keep an eye out for Beatley things anytime I go into a store, and if I’m feeling spicy and the price isn’t too high, I’ll buy said Beatley things.

Off the top of my head –

Listen through CDs/Vinyls/YouTube (the latter one for outtakes and stuff)

Watch documentaries and videos

Read books/articles

(Attempt) to learn songs on guitar and keyboard

Look at pictures

I like to do little animations like this or this. Not very funcy stuff but it’s a good way to mix programming and Beatles.

I read about them a lot,and try to listen to them everyday, even if it’s just one song. Also, I think it’s cool when I’m watching something, and there might be something on a particular programme that has a link with the Beatles (for example, the other day,a DIY programme was on,and the house they were doing up was in Surrey),so immediately my brain picks up on the link. I do annoy friends and family at times because I talk about them so much. Do i care? Nope a-hard-days-night-paul-11

Pretty much that: I try to keep their albums in medium to heavy rotation and I have a moptop of which I am immensely proud. a-hard-days-night-john-1 I also draw them (formal portraits on birthdays/death anniversaries, cartoons other times) and play their songs on my guitar, of course (though not as much as I should). I also occasionally pore over my folder of favourite Beatles photos (although I don’t much now as I did in the past, they’re mostly for drawing-reference anyway).
