If it makes you feel better, the remix kind of sucked because it was duophonic rather than true stereo and mind as well have been kept in mono.
There are a ton of remixers out there who have created mono mixes of stereo Beatles albums, and vice versa, which have been lauded.

I completely agree. I think that Anyhology should have had more unreleased tracks. Apple should do an official release of just unreleased songs. Of course they won’t do that because the casual fans won’t recognize any of the songs, or care about/buy the release.
As for the Christmas Flexis, I’d like to see them released with full versions of some of the songs in the flexi (if they exist) or some other bonus material. I’d also like to see the original flexis to be reissued and released.
I’m guessing a lot of the unreleased songs probably aren’t deemed releasable by the powers that be at Apple as they might not make as much money as say a compilation of well known songs but I can make a compromise and include unreleased songs plus demos/alternate versions/live tracks of some of the hits as well, which I know would essentially make this Anthology 4 but I would like to see these songs officially released.
I know the Christmas Flexis were released as a compilation in 1970 and adds up to around 43:58 of content so they could re-release it and include any bonus stuff they have in the vault but I doubt this will get an official release as well due to it’s lack of commercial appeal. I don’t think you could even market it for Christmas.

I reaLLY want to hear the full version of All Too Well. Honestly I could cry every single time listening to that song. It’s so beautiful. I feel it so strongly. I couldn’t even imagine how much more beautiful it would be if I could hear the full version. I would probably never recover, though, so maybe it’s best unreleased?????
As for The Beatles, however, I would like to see an official release of the Decca audition because I honestly love it so much and I think it might have better quality if released by them.

Definitely the two that are highest on my list… Part of me wants them to fade away into obscurity though… Both have all ready achieved legendary status and yet so few have actually heard them, and those who have don’t hold them in very high regard… We’ve built them up to be something that they are very likely not… Perhaps not so much with ‘Carnival Of Light ‘ because I think most expect it to sound like crap anyway, but the extended ‘Helter Skelter ‘ promises to live up to something special…
The expectation is that because it’s so long that it’s choc full of golden moments, but very well could be as George Martin says, and that “it’s not very good”… I seem to remember Sir George making a yawning motion when he was asked about it in that Dutch ‘Anthology’ interview he gave with Derek Taylor and Neil Aspinall… When a band jams out for extended periods, it’s not always because that the performance is so great that they just can’t stop it… Often it’s because a band is struggling to find a groove and are searching for it, many times bearing no fruit…
Still, the curiosity surrounding these two “holy grails” stashed away in the vaults is of epic proportions, to be certain… and after hearing ‘Revolution (Take 20)’ a few years back for the first time and being absolutely blown away by it, I do now have some faith in these two delivering on them “golden moments”… It was a little different with ‘Revolution (Take 20)’, however, for I didn’t even know of its existence until meanmistermustard posted a link to it and heard it for the first time…
Another one worth mentioning, and quite possibly THE best unreleased Beatles track, is a take of ‘She’s A Woman ‘ (don’t recall which take it was) that is about 7 minutes long (if I remember correctly) and the boys are bringing it… I haven’t heard it in over a decade and don’t even remember where I got it from (don’t know where it is either!) but it really is a true gem… outstanding…:-)

@Billy Rhythm I agree with your opinion of the legendary Helter Skelter take. The Beatles are not a jam band, and their greatest work certainly doesn’t exist within a 20 minute hard rock tour de force. Still, I hope that it never fades into obscurity. Who knows, maybe they wont be unveiled for a couple of centuries.

They seemed to require some structure to roam around within, or direction in which to explore… It’s they way they began really… They’d learn some new chords on a double decker bus or something before they’d go plug in and jam it… ‘Hey Jude ‘ is probably one of the better examples of this… Establish the 3 chord pattern first then blast the living daylights out of it… I can’t really think of any example of them roaming freely without “a map” and having it work…

Here’s an example of what I mean here:
An interesting unreleased jam from 1969 that doesn’t really go anywhere… It starts off nice but gets repetitive fairly quickly and that’s only after 5 minutes… The fact that ‘Helter Skelter ‘ goes on for much longer may imply that it was interesting enough for them to go on longer than they do here, but it could be even more monotonous than this one… It would be nice to have the opportunity to judge it on its own merit, however…:-)

She’s A Woman is take 7* is what youre thinking of with the wild guitar fills and screams on the fadeout.*In my library, this take comes after take 5 and is labelled take 6, however the pre-take dialogue goes “She’s A Woman take… 5 is it? Take 7.”
Does @meanmistermustard have an explanation?
My understanding is such. I very well may be wrong.
Take 5 is the released take, it was finally booted a year or so back with the correct intact slate. It runs for 4 minutes 25 seconds, ending with random piano playing and a second Paul vocal repeatedly saying “take it off”, presumably meaning end the overdubbing. It’s quite similar but not as wild as the long take. Lewisohn has it noted as take 6 (the “best” take) – unless George M erroneously called it take 5 when it should have been 6 and we are still missing the real take 5.
The long extended take where George M says “She’s A Woman take… 5 is it? Take 7.” therefore should be take 6. He got it wrong in the announcement and then everyone else followed suit.
So you can say there is no take 6 or there is no take 7. I went with 6 as George M ballsed it up.

Yeah… Here it is for those who’ve yet to hear it yet:
It’s not quite as good as the one that I had way back when though… Paul’s vocals (as stellar as they are) are too upfront in this particular mix… they need to be pulled back while all the other instruments need to be pushed up… probably sound better in mono as well (Big Mono fan here)… Great version though… the song was always great live… Virtually all of the live versions that I’ve heard either match or surpass the official release, in my opinion…:-)

I enjoy hearing George play around with the slidey guitar fills. It sounds mad in this version, but he starts incorporation the technique seamlessly into later songs. Hundred of funk players use that style without ever having heard George do it.

I hope we someday get to the point where they purge the archives of every minute recorded by the Fabs… if Mark Lewisohn can hear it, maybe all the audio will trickle down to us at some point… I’d just love to hear every take of “Long, Long Long” before i pass. Let alone the studio conversations. Still, they maintain some mystery as a band fifty years on, and it might be sad to see it go…

So totally agree. If it exists, why shouldn’t they release it? We’re not asking them to spend a week mixing each outtake, we’re asking them to release them – I’m sure many fans will do their own mixing anyway, so how hard can it be for them to release it? Besides, Apple would make a quick buck from it, and that’s all they care about.

@The Hole Got Fixed Exactly! Although, if “Carnival Of Light ” hasn’t seen the light of day- ever- and Macca WANTS to release it and has for AGES- my hopes are somewhat low. All it takes is one Abbey Road employee… we got the Rock Band isolated tracks, we got the Kinfauns demos years ago, we got the “Think For Yourself ” dialogue, hell, we got Revolution 20 ages ago!!! Apple moves in mysterious and frustrating ways- springing just enough leaks to keep us excited, not enough to satisfy our hunger for long!!!
P.S.- i always hoped “Carnival Of Light ” was like an instrumental in the vibe of “You Know My Name”… similar times of recording, similar goofing off. A girl can dream…

I was under the impression Carnival Of Light isn’t too dissimilar to a cross between Revolution 9 and You Know My Name, so if we ever hear it you’ll probably enjoy it, @georgeparisol !
But as Beatles fans we are so lucky that we have so many things from the vaults that have been leaked already – but we all know there’s more in there, so I’m not happy till we have all of it!

I think it will all come out eventually with Apple charging a subscription for access. They cannot go on with anniversaries and repackaging the songs in various configurations and they’d be delighted with a continual stream of revenue.
