Hi everyone. Damian here. Back in either late 63 or early 64 My Mother Lisa Bankoff interviewed the Beatles. The story goes that she was a big fan and managed to get a press pass as a reporter for a school paper and managed to have a recorded interview with the Beatles.
It was a rather lengthy interview done on a portable tape recorder. Mainly just her asking questions and all the Beatles just chatting away with her. Lots of interesting stuff on there. The interview never got released and to this day is in our family’s possession.
Years later my mother even met with the Beatles again as an aspiring singer songwriter and even had the opportunity to record a demo for them. At the time the Beatles had apple records and all 4 had to agree to sign a new artist ( from what my mother has told me) unfortunately for her George was not in favour whilst the others where so it did not eventuate.
Following this she and my cousin ended up meeting members of Pink Floyd, this led to Nick mason taking them on as their manager. Eventually they signed to Morgan blue town and formed the band Chimera.
The album that they created sadly did not get released until 2003.
Getting back to the interview. It’s something we would like to get out into the world eventually. But really have no idea how to proceed with it.
is it likely that there would be significant interest in such an interview?
Kind regards,
Damian

First, how awesome for your mom. Jealous!
Maybe @Joe is interested in working with you on this. IDK.
Or maybe Mark Lewishon. He has finished his volume covering that time, but he may still be keen to hear it.
Hopefully others on here may have ideas for you.

There is definitely interest in unheard Beatles material. Contacting Lewisohn, Joe (of this forum), an auction house or one of the media channels might be of some use. Even if they aren’t able to they would be able to point you in the right direction.
Don’t go near Apple as they will swallow it up and wonderful people like us will never hear it.

Wow! Your Mother was so lucky to meet them.
Maybe you could contact Pete Best’s half-brother, Roag Best who runs the Liverpool Beatles Museum in Mathew Street. On 10th November, the museum did an exclusive listening party where visitors got the chance to hear an unreleased recording of Radhe Shaam featuring George and Ringo on guitar and drums, respectively. They could do a similar event for the interview.
