@Ahhh Girl Great picture of Sir George Martin with "John"! (Yes, I just came back from Havana - the Lennon glasses can come off and have often been stolen. Now a woman stands off to the side and stands guard over the glasses!)
Love the Beatles Bible trick.

John Lennon is getting a US stamp in 2018. https://www.local10.com/lifest.....s-for-2018
Hopefully by the end of April so RN can get a birthday card with one of the stamps on it.
They will be forever stamps so I am going to buy a slew of them to use for years to come.

It's not bad, @Ahhh Girl. Not the best Lennon statue in Liverpool (probably the Pier Head Beatles) but not the worst (was hugely disappointed by the Cavern Walks Beatles:
).Liverpool is a fascinating city for statues though. As AG can confirm, there are very naturalistic statues of Liverpool's famous sons and daughters strolling the streets in the city centre, and you can find statues of many connected with the Beatles story that are easily missed, like this statue of Sir John Moores and his brother Cecil:
Sir John was the man who bought the Stuart Sutcliffe painting that bought Stu a bass guitar so he could join John's band.
It does strike me that I don't think there's a statue of Brian in Liverpool. I'm sure AG and I would have been off to see had there been.
Strange that the man who did so much to create Liverpool's reputation as a centre as musical Revolution is so far missing a public memorial.
Something interesting I noticed is that the John statue on Mathew Street has had his head changed. It seems this is the statue as it was originally:
While now, after a slight move, he looks like this:
Obviously the same body, but his head has changed from the rocker to the moptop.

It seems the campaign failed as nothing has been heard, and the "statue4eppy" website is gone.

That's too bad, I would love to see an Eppy statue, he definitely deserves it.

Of course, the most important Liverpool public artwork, as it was the first, and surprisingly not mentioned yet (including by me), is Arthur Dooley's Mathew Street plaque, "Four Lads Who Shook the World".
Unveiled in 1975, it originally also included a cherub shown flying away to represent Paul, but it was stolen shortly after. It reappeared in 2005, but I can't remember it having been put back in place. The "Lennon Lives" tribute was placed alongside in the '80s.
This is the plaque as originally unveiled, with the Paul cherub in place:
Notice how Paul has Wings... Clever pun!

I personally can't believe that we have a statue of Cilla Black in Liverpool, but yet there isn't one of Brian Epstein. If it wasn't for him, she probably wouldn't have had a singing career.
Oh, and no one in Liverpool says 'lorra, lorra' either. I honestly don't know where she picked that up from. (And yes, that statue is supposed to be Cilla Black )
