Not so much named, but Wakko from The Animaniacs cartoon, voice was model after John Lennon ‘s. I didn’t find that out until this past Monday. Again, another I did not connect with off the bat.

All up and down Matthew Street (where the Cavern is) there are bars, shops, cafés and even a hotel to do with The Beatles (Hard Day´s Night Hotel, rooms starting at something like £500 a night!). I think there´s a Lennon´s bar and a place called Rubber Soul as well.

Although it´s to be expected, I think it´s a bit pathetic how people try and earn money so much from The Beatles name.

Moving along in our God given ways, safety is sat by the fire/Sanctuary from these feverish smiles, left with a mark on the door.

There’s a Dutch band called Rigby. I think you can guess where they got their name from.

Around ’83 when I was enamoured of Tangerine Dream, I read somewhere that they took their name from “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds “, and I remember being briefly unsure whether I’d been mishearing the “Tangerine trees…” lyric all along! I’m still not sure whether I just read incorrect information, or whether they took the “Tangerine” from that lyric and the “Dream” from elsewhere. (Or hmm, maybe they just misheard the lyric themselves, English not being their first language after all.)

Didn’t one of them have a Ringo voice?

By now this isn’t new news to most of us, but I thought I’d add it here for future reference.

John had a tarantula named after him. Here’s a conversation about it.

I found this while surfin’ the web.

Cool, right?

P.S. What Beatle did you come on?

The ensuing conversation from back in 2011 is fantastic! I don’t think I should answer the question about which Beatle I came on….a-hard-days-night-paul-7

Any plans to merge with the Japanese goth-metal band Eleanor?

I say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did'.

Has anyone mentioned Lucy, that skeleton found in 1974, named after the LSD song? My History teacher once told us about it and I was like “Now, that’s something interesting, not like all those crazy names and numbers I’ll forget in the summer”. Since that day I love her.

And this:

Buster Bloodvessel the singer is named after the character of the same name in ‘MMT’. If i’d have known this thread existed i’d have posted that here when I posted it where it was posted elsewhere.

Yes, Lucy is in the thread. More than once I think. But that’s ok.

Love the picture @Merch!

a-hard-days-night-ringo-8Not sure Paul does. “Paul Mac Carne” translates to “Paul Mac Meat”. It’s an Argentinian butcher’s shop.

I don’t know if these have been mentioned before but 2 sixties groups took inspiration from mis-spelt animal/insect bands.

The Monkees – who everyone knows were like the Beatles but without the talent (LOL OK not as much talent) and The Byrds who were talented.

palance posted about this in the news thread in 2013. I thought it would be a good idea to have the information x-posted here too.

John Lennon has a crater on Mercury named after him. See the 7th picture on this page.

Cranberries weren’t named after “cranberry sauce”.

I finally finished Sgt. Pepper 2! Watch it here. (Sorry if this is annoying advertizing...)
