I did not have Linda in mind. I was imagining that haters would compare Yoko (a strong Asian feminist) with Cynthia.
It sounds like they are more haters of Cynthia
What you’re saying by implication is that Yoko is a, ‘strong, asian feminist’ and Cynthia was, ‘subservient, weak and white……’
Please correct me if I’ve misunderstood.

Allow me to correct your perception. I’m not saying anything about Cynthia. I am imagining what those who dislike Yoko might think. And my guess is that they would prefer John to be with a nice, white Englishwoman who will stay behind the scenes (as Cynthia in fact did) instead of someone like Yoko, who is always outspoken and challenging others.

I will respect those who inexplicably appreciate Yoko by not posting anything negative on this particular thread.
But I have responded to Sean …, uh Expert Textpert, on the “Yoko Ono”https://www.beatlesbible.com/f…..5/#p175010 thread.

But with all respect to ET……George, Paul and Ringo saw a lot more of her and the two of them together than any of us have………And I don’t think they had particularly high opinions of her on any level…….Who am I to disagree?
Now that’s a good argument.

Not necessarily. They resented the fact that she was in the studio, when there was a “boys only” rule, and that John wanted her to be a Beatle. But those are not character judgments. Also, Paul was obviously jealous of the attention she was getting from John, which is why he wrote that note saying “You and your Jap tart think you’re hot s**t.” Obviously very immature–I wouldn’t trust Paul’s feelings on this issue.

I found myself asking…..’Or George’s? Ringo’s? George Martin’s?’
But this is the appreciation thread……so ignoring negative opinions that you will anyway pass judgement on and write off as coming from ‘haters’ who are biased in some, white, unreconstructed macho chauvinist or plainly racist way……..Who’s opinion is it that you put more faith in than those around who witnessed what was going on at the time? Maybe that answer will be the clincher and I’ll have to take another look at Yoko’s work. Perhaps I’m really only trying to understand where you’re coming from. Is it admiration or do you identify with her in some way?
Don’t think I’m sneering or out to get you ET….I really respect your passion for things Yoko. You obviously feel she’s been deeply wronged…And this and other Yoko threads would be nothing without your voice.

The person whose opinion I trust is John. He was there, and he knew Yoko better than George Martin or Ringo or George. I know what it’s like to be an outsider so I don’t necessarily trust a group consensus. I judge things for myself. I don’t see anything Yoko is guilty of that John isn’t also guilty of, and yet she gets all the blame.

A good but not unexpected answer………
There we will differ and should perhaps leave it…….Or at least I should.
I trust the group looking on…….. not the man with a woman caught in his emotional blind spot …….We’ve all had one….or got one…or will get one. ‘The most noble form of madness’ John Donne……..But it is a madness.
It can be wonderful or destructive………. As good old Percy sang…..
‘When a man loves a woman…….
Can’t keep his mind on nothing else,
He’ll trade the world for the good thing he’s found.
If she’s bad he can’t see it,
She can do no wrong,
Turn his back on his best friends if ‘they’ put her down’
They did…….and John turned his back……and Yoko lived happily ever after.
Just my view.
I reckon it must have been wonderful for John for a time though.

It’s just amazing to me the lengths people will go to continue the Yoko bashing, even here in the appreciation thread. Give it a rest, it’s not like she’s an effing criminal. John was a grown man who made his own decisions. Get over it.

Agree 100%. There’s more than one Yoko thread, so no need for folks to post their negativity on the one that’s pretty explicitly opposed to that purpose.

Good call. Maybe the mods can move some of the posts to a more appropriate thread?

“I’m leaving the band…eh? I mean the thread’
Apologies to any of the Yoko police that I may have affronted with my non-Yoko’cally correct expressed thoughts………It wasn’t my intention to upset anyone
but at 62 I say what I think………Regards to all….. especially ET.
I shall return to the job I was busying myself with today…...’breaking up’ the ice in my freezer ………Come to think of it, that might be something Yoko would actually be very good at.

No problems with any of the opinions you have expressed, just thinking that maybe they should be in the general Yoko thread or other more suitable place. Only my opinion mind.

Wouldn’t she imagine walking on ice so to feel the cold in your soul so you can warm yourself and the world?

Or ‘the ice in her soul’……Ooops sorry…. Atlas slides out of the thread again on his arse…….Serves him right, Instant Karma you see.
By the way if you don’t know what the shortest verse in the Bible is……You’ll have to google it.
