For whatever reason, John is still the coolest Beatle to like, and Paul the most embarrassing.

I think you’re pretty spot on with that. It’s sad, really.

I’m guessing it’s still Paul, with his granny s**t music and now they’re complaining about his wig! paul-mccartney

Are you trying to say that Paul’s hair isn’t real? I don’t believe it. He doesn’t wear a wig! a-hard-days-night-ringo-14

Nah, he doesn’t wear a wig, but you can bet there are people who think he does.

Anyway, one thing is clear to me: whilst the general public may be divided, Paul is definitely the least liked Beatle amongst Beatles fans. The things (some) fans say about him are just sad. How can you honestly claim to love the Beatles when you have no love or even respect for Paul?

People on here clump solo work into the Beatles so it’s not surprising that others do it.

No. There is a huge difference between saying ‘Imagine ‘ is a Beatles song and a Beatley moment is hearing ‘Band On The Run ‘. No one in any posts such as the two quoted are suggesting either are Beatles songs, Beatley moments cover all things solo and together.

I have to agree with you… I can’t really understand how could you love The Beatles, but state that you hate any of them…But that’s of course my own opinion …

Anyway, I think the question here was, “the most disliked by the society, not Beatlemaniacs” , and I still believe that would be Paul. And the simple reason I think is, that he shows up everywhere, making albums and touring. I heard someone says: ” How long this guy gonna sing!? He’s 70 years old…?!” Like people can’t stand the fact, “granny” can still kick you ass :-)))

I agree, @Eleanor Macca. It’s as if people resent him for doing what he likes.

If Beatles fans clump solo and Beatles songs together then non or casual fans might get confused.

You’re missing a) the context of individual sentences and b) the point. If we go down the route of people not getting confused then you will be writing 45,000 words where normally it would be 7. Instead of swallowing everything verbatim why don’t people not go and look it up.

There isn’t a context other then posting a Beatles moment. The posts I picked were not responding to anyone.

b) the point.

The point is to share a Beatles moment by using a solo song. If we are grouping the solo work into the Beatles work then we shouldn’t be peeved when a non-fan or a casual fan does so.

Instead of swallowing everything verbatim why don’t people not go and look it up.

Cause it doesn’t matter enough to them.

No one is grouping songs such as ‘Band On The Run ‘ as a Beatles song, if you cant see that then this discussion is utterly pointless.

If folk cant be bothered to do simple things for themselves out of sheer laziness or lack of interest then that’s up to them.

I see it like this:

John, Paul, George, and Ringo were all Beatles. In fact, they always will be Beatles. So, when you hear one of their songs – even if it’s a post-Beatle one – it’s still a Beatley moment because it’s a song by a Beatle, even if it isn’t a Beatles song. They will always trigger that association, it’s inevitable.

However, calling Imagine or Band On The Run a Beatles song is different. They’re songs by (ex-)Beatles, but they’re obviously not made by The Beatles (band). So, when people say ‘I like Imagine ‘ when the conversation is about The Beatles, they’re implying it’s a Beatles song.

So: remembering The Beatles when hearing a J/P/G/R solo tune is fine. Mentioning solo tunes as an example of why people like The Beatles is not.

I think that’s what MMM means, anyway.

It’s all in the placement of the apostrophe. Band On The Run is not a Beatles song. It’s a Beatle’s song.

Ok, everyone.

In the fanfic Beatles community, which is pretty casual at times, the Beatle people care about the least is Ringo!

Ringo wasn’t with the Beatles during their younger years so that puts him at a disadvantage.
