Has anyone mentioned the “Back In The USSR ” line in Dancing in the Street (David Bowie/Mick Jagger)? I always point it out when I’m weirding out my friends with the music video.

I’ve been watching this mad piece of hilarity over and over:
Back In The USSR is mentioned at 1:56.

@Ahhh Girl sometime ago posted a Willie Nile song about his reaction to John’s death (they were both recording at Record Plant East that weekend). It was a pain to track down because she didn’t bother naming it, and the video she used has since been pulled.
The song is I Can’t Get You Off My Mind:
And I was reminded of it when I came across a more recent Willie Nile live performance of a song called Lost which he dedicated to John, and in this live version talks about that last weekend at Record Plant East…
Note, please, give the song name in case the video you’re using disappears… And, yes, I know I haven’t always done that… I will in future…

This is a Billy J. Kramer song from 2013, To Liverpool with Love…
I always loved The Beatles
Especially John and Paul…I have lots of stories,
Friends who died before their time…Something ‘s always bothered me,
I just can’t explain,
Why isn’t Brian Epstein
In the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame[Nasty note: he is now]
Oh, to Liverpool with love
Oh, to Liverpool with love

Flipping through radio stations and heard this line:
“You sing a sad song just to turn it around”*
Do you think that was inspired by Hey Jude ?
*from Bad Day by Daniel Powter

Frank Zappa’s irreverent unreleased 1965 track “Groupie Bang Bang” informs us that
“Byrds and Stones dig the way she dance
And ev’ry damn one gets in her pants
Paul McCartney and Ringo too
Say she balls better than Epstein do”
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

I searched through the thread post 2016 but I couldn’t find any mention, so
‘White Ferrari’ by Frank Ocean from his 2016 album Blonde references Here There And Everywhere using the line and accompanying melody “spending each day of the year”. The band are even mentioned in the song’s credits. If you haven’t heard that song, I really really recommend you do so. It’s very beautiful and Frank’s voice when he sings the aforementioned line is just gorgeous, very vulnerable sounding. In fact, the whole album is great. ‘Nights’ is another highlight.
I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

Mike Love uploaded this song, Pisces Brothers, to social media on what would have been George’s 71st birthday in 2014. It was officially released on his Unleash the Love album last year.
There is a painting on the wall
And as I walk on down the hall
A flood of memories come to mind
Of happy birthday’s back in time
Pisces brothers with worldly success
Seekers drawn to Rishikesh
Not for fortune or for more fame
But for enlightenment we came
To Maharishi and how sublime
It was an atmosphere divine
Such precious moments, now in the past
Music and memories are all that last
Jai guru deva, Hare Krishna, Hare Rama
Jai guru deva, little darling, Here Comes The Sun
Jai guru deva, Hare Krishna, gonna miss ya’
Now on the darkest of lonely nights
The heavens shine with one more light
And while the world below you sleeps
Some say your guitar gently weeps
And though your earthly form be gone
Your songs of life go on and on
Jai guru deva, Hare Krishna, Hare Rama
Jai guru deva, oh little darling, Here Comes The Sun
Jai guru deva, Hare Krishna, gonna miss ya’
And though we’ll miss you, now that you’re gone
Your songs of life
Go on and on

Just came across this 1964 Sonny Curtis track done with Lou Adler, A Beatle I Want to Be…
Bit of an irony that the lyrics mention “the Momma’s and the Papa’s” referring to parents as the group didn’t exist at the time, but when the group did emerge in 1965, they were produced by Adler.
