I wonder what the male/female ratio was during those years in audiences? I'd hazard a guess that it was about 70% female.
That'd be a safe bet. But we know they had their fair share of notable Male fans! Not the least of which being this guy:

I enjoy hearing the loud enthusiasm of the teenage Stowe pupils, to the Beatles rocking their school in '63 - that should settle forever the dismissals I've read from certain ignoramuses who scornfully claim that they were merely "a girls' band!"

...and yet at the same time, they were a girls' band as well (a great one), and we know that there were some invited female guests present at the concert; and their higher-pitched screams can be easily heard at several random points, often in mid-song - possibly responding to one or more of the boys doing the patented Beatle hair-shake.

I've never heard this before - does anyone know any more?
In 1980, The Beatles had planned a reunion concert for a TV documentary on the band, titled The Long and Winding Road. The planned reunion was scrapped following the murder of John Lennon on December 8th of the same year.
https://www.reddit.com/r/beatl.....?rdt=37097
John Lennon made a statement as part of a legal deposition against the producers of the musical Beatlemania. "I and the other three former Beatles have plans to stage a reunion concert", he said, referring to an event that was to be filmed as a finale of The Long And Winding Road (which was now to be a television special).

And speaking of Anthology anyone know what this 'Director's Cut version is please?

Any thought on why The Beatles Didn't use slang in their titles? I Want To Hold Your Hand , I Don't Want To Spoil The Party , You're Going To Lose That Girl all say "wanna" and "gonna" in the lyrics.

Why did the Beatles never do any surf music?
Closest (by a distance) was Another Girl . Especially in that Help ! scene on the beach, they emulated Beach Boys in 1965. But I guess they were just too sophisticated? I kind of think Paul is the kind of guy to at least cover it or groove a bit.

It wasn’t for consistency (see I Wanna Be Your Man ). No idea why as to that, or to these either:
Adding a word to a title that’s not sung in the song – All I(‘ve) Got To Do.
Or omitting a word from a title that is sung – Everybody’s Got Something to Hide Except (for) Me and My Monkey.
Or switching the order of the words – Love You To , sung as “I’ll make love to you.”

Who really broke up the Beatles? John? Yoko? Paul? All of them? Brian Epstein's death (my vote)...just curious.
- The End
of Touring (1966)
John was the most affected by the end of the tour. He had lost his bearings and took a lot of drugs in the 15-18 months that followed. This allowed Paul to take the lead, and John began to question his future. - The Death of Brian Epstein (August 1967)
Epstein was essential to the group's cohesion. After his death the group became chaotic, and tensions between the members increased. - The Creation of Apple Corps (1968)
Apple Corps was intended to allow the Beatles to pay less tax and pursue various artistic projects. The Beatles were not businessmen. This caused a great deal of stress and financial loss. - The Bad Moon of the White Album
Recording (1968)
Of course, Yoko Ono was there, but all the guys were in a bad mood. Ringo left for a while, and everyone was working on their own.
- The Failure of the Get Back
project (january 1969)
What was supposed to be a back-to-basics project worsened the relationship that had deteriorated in the preceding months. - Allen Klein took over the Beatles (February 1969)
Ringo, Gearge and John agreed to let Klein become their manager, but Paul didn't, who wanted his father-in-law. This caused a rift between Paul and the rest of the band. - John announces he is leaving the band (septembre 1969)
After the Plastic Ono Band show at the Toronto Rock and Roll Revival, John announced his departure. The band agreed to keep it secret. It is unclear whether the separation was permanent or temporary at this time.
- Phil Spector takes over Let it Be ( January 1970)
The most important event in my opinion. Paul was so frustrated by Spector's production that he decided to announce the end of the Beatles himself, much to the dismay of the other three, who felt a kind of betrayal. Then Paul sued the other guys to end the band, and that burned the bridges.

Something I wonder about, though likely I'll never know the full answer: From say 1965 on through the 70s (ending in 1980 out of respect for John), I assume each individual Beatle (possibly in groups of 2 or 3) heard the latest hits from other artists. What I wonder is
1) how they first heard a song, what medium (radio?), under what circumstances (at home? in the car? in the studio?)
2) what was their impression on hearing these songs the first time (and additionally, on subsequent times).
Imagine any one (or more) of the Beatles the first time they heard, for example --
"In The Summertime" - Mungo Jerry
"Maggie May" - Rod Stewart
"Alone Again (Naturally)" - Gilbert O'Sullivan
"American Pie" - Don McLean
"Stayin' Alive" - Bee Gees
"Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head" B.J. Thomas
"Mrs. Robinson" - Simon & Garfunkel
"Low Rider" - War
"Everybody's Everything" - Santana
"Mongonucleosis" - Chicago
"American Woman " - Guess Who
"Me And Bobby McGee" - Kris Kristofferson
"Shower the People" - James Taylor
"Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing" - Stevie Wonder
"Cat's in the Cradle" - Harry Chapin
"Lil Green Bag" - George Baker Selection
"Moonshadow" - Cat Stevens

You are naming some pretty old songs, @Sea Belt. If it was the 50s, they were still not famous, so it would be a normal radio or 45 like you or me. I wonder more if they felt influenced, anxious, or angry hearing contemporary songs after they broke up, thinking "Wow, I should do that!"
Start Me Up
Funkytown
No Woman No Cry
Barracuda

Something I’ve always admired about the four lads is how they retained their British way about themselves and scouser accents. We loved them for being just what they were.
