I had Beatles music in my videos, it was either not caught or muted. [Censored by Starr Shine?]

It bugs me as it looks like they settled on there being 50 promos to match it being 50 years since the making of the Inter Tel videos despite there being more.
I can see some office junior trying to point out some of those left off whilst an Apple exec just shakes his head whilst reciting “50” like some weird mantra.

I’d do so with caution, particularly since Apple is being so strict. For an example, about five or six years ago I had my channel shut down because of one little clip from the Oprah show. Harpo (her company) does not mess. Since then, I’ve not posted anything like that, I use this account mainly to watch now. See, if they’d asked me to just take it down I would have no problem. But I logged on to find my whole channel gone. You will either a) find your videos muted, no sound or b) your account closed down like mine was.You could try to make them less searchable by not using song title, “Beatles”, or any other qualifying information that Apple might look for as MMM stated but should they find them, you’ll probably get a copyright strike.
And yes, there are things not on the DVD / Blu Rays. Perhaps if fans are “noisy” enough and ask enough they’ll put more things on the official channel.
That’s messed up that you Oprah was so pissed off that you used a small clip of her and deleted it. Taking this stuff off of YouTube is technically breaching the first amendment (Yes, I’m American), I bet if John was still alive, this wouldn’t be the case and the songs would be sent freely across YouTube. Thinking about it, do The Beatles even have a say over this (I know they sold off Northern Songs in 1969 and now most of their songs are owned by Michael Jackson’s estate (it’s so strange to imagine the real estate of someone who was the perfect age to be into The Beatles actually now owns their songs)).

Apple will not want the videos up as it takes revenue away and they own the copyright of the songs.
It won’t on YouTube since they can choose to make money off other people’s uploads.

Nowhere near the amounts they would lose from those who would watch the videos instead of streaming or buying downloads or CDs. The royalties YouTube pay are peanuts compared to streaming sites.

I have to say please don’t upload any Beatles songs, @sgtpepper63. I don’t want anyone encouraging anyone on this site to upload Beatles songs (or give hints or advice on how to do so) because 1) it is wrong and 2) I don’t want Joe to get Apple upset at him for allowing the conversation to happen on his site.

I wish there would be a professional petition for this. Videos that have been on for years no longer play music. Beatles videos should have as many views as Anaconda. There are also so many Beatles demos and cover songs that it’s impossible for the best agents to find them all. Just let us enjoy our music.
Only music can save us.

Ahhh Girl, I understand #2 perfectly, but as for #1, why do you consider it wrong. As Starr Shine? said, they can choose to make money off other people’s uploads (not as much as buying a CD, but still make money). Also, don’t forget that if they’re not on YouTube, they’ll just illegally download it anyways or just burn a CD copy of their friends The Beatles In Mono box set. It’s not like it’s 1969 where the only way to listen to music is to either have the album, or listen to it on the radio. Me and my older brother have a complete US stereo Beatles discography from our mother that includes a 2nd state butcher wall mounted to show off. Do you think that I want to go through the painstaking process of removing the records multiple times a day. If you would rather use vinyl than YouTube, be my guest. Not trying to be mean, just saying, with YouTube, at least Apple makes some money, whereas if 500 people illegally download their entire discography from a website, they don’t.

Most folks will illegally download anyway if they want to and know how, having the music available freely on YouTube will make little difference to their decision. It’s also far easier to download the music off of YouTube plus there are tons of apps nowadays that let you watch/play YouTube videos offline. Those who don’t download are more put off by the risk of viruses and/or not having a clue where to go and how to do so.
Quite simply its in Apple’s financial and commercial interests not to have the videos available.

I very much want The Beatles music to be on YouTube and think it should be there for all the reasons stated, but until Apple says it can be there, I think it is wrong for people to put it out there.

If they don’t get caught are they really doing anything wrong? It’s not like they are harming another being, so I wouldn’t say it’s wrong.
So if I took 5 dollars from you, that’s okay because you didn’t catch me and I didn’t harm you? What about 20 dollars? 30? 40? 100,000?
I am you as you are you as you are you and you are all together.

That could be considered causing harm to another being, so no, that’s not okay. If I didn’t notice, however, then I guess it didn’t really matter.

But taking money from a person is the same as not getting royalties for something Apple owns. Robbery is robbery, doing it in different ways doesn’t make it okay.

Have fun trying to repeal several centuries worth of copyright laws. It’s not a fight I feel up to fighting. Also, I’m not convinced the laws need to be overturned.

I understand 100%, as long as it is Paul and Ringo who have the say, not some guy who just happens to be fortunate enough to be head of a company that The Beatles started.

Some do, like if someone wanted to review Beatles music, they should be aloud to show a small portion of the song to illustrat their point under fair use.

Yes. Its still illegal. Going into court and saying “it’s fine, it’s not like any one got harmed” will not help your case.
