Hello *waves timidly* and thank you for taking the time to visit this corner of Forumpool!
I'm a bit scared to open a new topic (partly due to past experience, but mostly because there are only about 90,000,000 threads already, and the sheer mass frightens me), but I felt like I should, just to keep all my stuff in one place. The "Artwork Of/By The Beatles" thread was getting too clogged up with my scribbles.
An "RP" means drawn from a Reference Photo. "I" means Imagined, John-style.
So...
Under spoilers, what I've done so far (originally posted in Artwork Of/By The Beatles):
Coloured drawing of Penny Lane (song imagery). First Beatle-related drawing that wasn't a Hofner or Rickenbacker bass.
And that's it for today. I'll Be Back (hopefully) soon with more. And please note, I'm not selling anything... just sharing my obsession.
Thoughts/comments/opinions welcome!
(Only, if yer don't like 'em, then don't look at 'em)

Oh, and I almost forgot-- the drawing I did for Mr. Kite's birthday:

Nice drawings, I like 'em 🙂
What you said about drawing George made me laugh, he definitely had an unusual facial structure that would definitely be more difficult to draw than most I imagine. Still, as you showed us, practice makes perfect!
I love the Penny Lane one too and pictured one in the same style with the scenes from Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds

Thanks, @Tuesday!
Yeah, George's looks are on a very fine line between handsome and... not so much. Usually he stays on the handsome side, but it can be hard to capture in a drawing. And there's something in the way he moves his gaze that is very singular... and if it's not there, then it doesn't look like George, even if the rest of his face is right. I have a theory about how the eyes are the most decisive feature in a person's face. But I'll stop yammering on about George now, I can go on about him all day...

Ooh, hadn't thought of that. Neat idea!
And I'll be back with a new drawing soon.

I've been busy this weekend!
And finally....
Edit: Just thought it was funny that when I scan my drawings, the background comes out sort of greyish (ergh!), but when put into spoilers it actually matches the spoiler-grey rather nicely.
Second edit: I re-scanned them so they wouldn't be greyish.

Woah I love these, especially George on the guitar.
Thanks! I like that one too-- but I can't take credit for the lovely pose 😀 I drew it from a photograph that's inside the AHDN remaster CD booklet.

@Beatlebug, I thought your avatar was a self-portrait. You mean you don't look like that?
I like the Penny Lane and George at the guitar the best. I noticed two sets of initials: "RF" and "MLK." One of the two is not your initials, right?
I'm not asking what your initials are, I just found it curious. Did you draw it on MLK Day?

*sigh* Alas, no. Paul is much prettier than I am.

Yes. 'RF' is not my initials. It stands for 'reference photo'-- then I realised that 'photo' starts with a P. And I thought I was a good speller...

No.
I leave you to infer the rest...

I like the posing in the George-with-Rickenbacker one. Are you drawing these while looking at photographs or are they from your imagination?

So do I. 🙂

Both. It depends.
Like you heard me said*
<slight trim>
An "RP" means drawn from a Reference Photo. "FM" means From Memory-- well, from imagination really, but that's what that means.<big snip>
I put them in the notes with each picture. For example:
A rather lovely picture of George on his Rickenbacker 12-string (RP):
That little (RP) means I did it from a photo.
*Sorry about George's atrocious grammar in Not Guilty .

You're a great sketch artist, @Beatlebug, who can only get better with practice. You shouldn't dismiss a talent as "scribbles"!

Love the new drawings, the George one especially. Looks like you resolved the issue of having to capture his gaze correctly to make it look like him by drawing him not looking at the viewer, because that looks great!

Wow! How long did that take you? That's a fantastic drawing! You used one colour and still managed to make such an intense stare, great job
