Hi Beatles fans!
I'm writing from the Epstein Theatre in Liverpool. As you'll see we're named in memory of Liverpool’s most successful music entrepreneur and Beatles manager Brian Epstein. Brian was renowned for his contributions to the city’s cultural and music scene. We've got the world premiere of a brand new show, Lennon's Banjo
, coming to the theatre and Beatles fans will love it.
The play tells the story of John Lennon
's first musical instrument, the banjo his Mother
taught him to play and its disappearance. We've even got former Beatles drummer Pete Best making an appearance in some of the shows!
Set in present day Liverpool: When Beatles tour guide Barry Seddon finds a letter written by John Lennon
he unearths a clue to the solving the greatest mystery in pop history – the whereabouts of Lennon’s first musical instrument which has been missing for 60 years. But Barry’s loose tongue alerts tourist and Texan dealer, Travis Lawson, to the priceless relic. In an attempt to get his hands on the letter and the clues within, he persuades his beautiful wife, Cheryl to befriend the hapless tour guide and win his affections. The race for the holy grail of pop memorabilia is on!
Former Beatles drummer Pete Best is to join the cast of Lennon’s Banjo
and play himself in selected performances. Be sure not to miss the shows on Wednesday 25th
April, 2.30pm & 7.30pm and Saturday 5th
May, 7.30pm to see a real life Beatle take to the stage!
